Are The Laws Stiff Enough to Protect Women? > The effectivness of court ordered DV classes

My partner was court ordered to attend a 26 week class for domestic violence. This class is "supposed" to follow a certain cirriculum each week. What I am hearing from my partner is that there is no cirriculum. The class is nothing more than "the facillitator" degrading each of the attendees. He provokes them into physical violence. He demoralizes them and sends them back into the world each week full of anger. My questions are, how much good is this doing? How many of these attendees leave class full of so much anger that they go home and take it out on the closest ones to them? Is this preventing more abuse or is it promoting it? I would appreciate any comments from other's who have the same concerns about state certified classes that I do.

Hi Kathy, My ex-boyfriend was found guilty of battery on June 22 and has to do the 26 week program as well as supervised probation for 24 months (he got a suspended 90 day jail time), and random drug checks and 24 months where he cannot see me.
I will probably not get his direct feedback about these classes but I can certainly get feedback from other sources. If I learn something, i can let you know. I am located on Maryland's eastern shore.
Good luck.
